Welcome to the X-ray Crystallography Facility
The X-ray Crystallography Facility at Imperial College London provides instruments, consumables and expertise to help researchers crystallize biological macromolecules and determine their three-dimensional structures by X-ray crystallography. On the crystallisation side we have a Mosquito LCP nanolitre crystallisation robot and a Tecan liquid handler. On the X-ray diffraction side, we have a Rigaku Micromax 007HF-M high-flux generator in a “double headed" configuration with Osmic VariMax optics and a Rigaku Saturn 944+ CCD detector on one side and a MAR345 image plate detector on the other.

The facility is part of the Centre for Structural Biology in the Department of Life Sciences at Imperial College London. Besides being available to CSB members on a pay-as-you-go basis, we are open for collaborative projects with scientists from the wider community. Full-time, fixed term for up to 4 years from 01 April 2016
We wish to recruit a Research Associate to work in the research group of Professor Xiaodong Zhang (www.msf.bio.ic.ac.uk), in the Section of Structural Biology, Department of Medicine, at Imperial College London’s South Kensington Campus. The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team of international researchers investigating the structures and mechanisms of bacterial RNA polymerase inhibition and activation. We employ a combination of Biochemistry, X-ray crystallography and electron microscopy techniques, utilising our excellent protein production and structural biology facilities at Imperial College London.
You must hold a PhD, or equivalent, in biochemistry, structural biology or relevant discipline and have a demonstrated track record in conducting high quality original research. Knowledge in protein biochemistry and structural biology as well as experience in protein expression and purification are essential.
