When will the new campus open?
Who will partner with Imperial on the new campus?
At the launch of the vision for Imperial's White City Campus in March 2013, Imperial invited proposals from potential global partners in business, industry and academia to co-locate at White City Campus and collaborate directly with the College’s world-leading experts in science, technology, engineering, medicine and business. The early response has been strong. We will update the community on our potential partners in due course.
What are the benefits to the local community?
The new campus is a major boost to the regeneration of the White City area. Existing plans include homes, publicly accessible green space, pedestrian subways and leisure and retail facilities, as well as the creation of thousands of jobs.
What does ‘co-location’ mean?
White City Campus is built around the idea of co-location: bringing together a critical mass of education, research, translation and commercialisation activities from a range of cross-cutting disciplines and sectors.
Some of the most rapidly developing fields of research, with the most potential to impact on economic growth and solving global and societal challenges, are inherently interdisciplinary. They simply cannot be tackled by individuals, organisations, sectors, or indeed countries on their own. By co-locating at White City Campus, thousands of next generation thinkers from around the world can engage with these fields on an unprecedented scale.
