University is a time when individuals often develop a stronger sense of their identity – for example, sexual, gender or faith identity. You have the right to be yourself and express yourself, and Imperial promotes equality and diversity in its students and staff.
If can be helpful to talk to someone if you are exploring your identity, especially if you are feeling uncomfortable or unsure about who you are. There are lots of people who can listen to you and provide support, for example:
- Imperial’s student counsellors
- ICU LGBT officer
- One of the chaplaincy team
- PACE offers LGBT counselling for couples and individuals
Mindfulness can be a useful tool in practising self-acceptance, which includes self-forgiveness and being kinder to yourself.
