Making a formal application


Stage 1:

  • Apply for the EPSRC ICO CDT, code H8NE Nuclear Energy [1+3] (MRes 1YFT) - using our Online Application Portal or read our Guidelines: How to Apply. Applicants should be aware they will be required to complete one application form for Imperial College to cover the year one MRes and a second application for the institution at which the remaining three year PhD studies will be undertaken.


Stage 2:

Your application will be considered by the EPSRC ICO CDT admissions panel. Promising candidates will be invited for interview at this stage


Stage 3:

The EPSRC ICO CDT admissions panel will decide on students to join our CDT cohort and who will start on the MRes in the following October entry.


The next steps:

In the year you will study your MRes you will select and undertake a year-long research project. This may be developed into or linked with your PhD topic area.  Continuation onto PhD study will be considered based upon your progress during the MRes, as well as developing your PhD project idea together with your academic and industrial mentors.
