Development of a diagnostic battery for probing individual differences in network function
Human cognition is supported by sets of brain regions that coordinate as functional networks to support different types of information process. Patients with cognitive impairments commonly show abnormal neural activity and connectivity within these networks but the exact nature of the brain and behavioural abnormalities differ. Assessment tools that can sub-classify patients based on different types of network dysfunction have great potential value in clinical research and assessment. The aim of this PhD will be to develop such tools using a combination of machine learning, real-time brain imaging, and internet-based cognitive testing.
