The Strategic Training in External Partnerships (STEP) programme has been established with the aim to diversify research income in the Faculty of Natural Sciences. Its goal is to support the Imperial research community in building new collaborations, diversify their research portfolio and deliver excellence with impact. The programme has been specifically designed for the cohort of new starters from the Faculty of Natural Sciences.
The sessions are delivered by the following central support teams:
- Corporate Partnerships
- Research Council and Charity funders
- Imperial Innovations

In addition, members of the academic community who have been successful succeeded in their endeavours in external partnerships provides the participants with their first-hand experiences and a few of dos and don'ts.
The programme is bolstered by talks from members of the academic community who have been successful in securing large amounts of funding from a broad variety of sponsors. They share their first-hand experience by giving examples of good practice and show how to avoid the usual pit falls.
