Matthew MarkiewiczDr. Matthew Markiewicz completed his PhD in chemistry at the University of Alberta, Canada, in 2011 while working on the development of electrocatalysts for the oxidation of 2-propanol under the supervision of Prof. Steven Bergens. He then joined the Kucernak group as a postdoctoral research associate in 2012, where he has worked on projects broadly concerning the theory and measurement of porous electrodes. These projects have ranged from fundamental studies concerning the electrokinetics of the HOR/HER and ORR/OER, development of techniques to measure diffusive and convective transport processes in porous electrodes, and the development of high surface area carbon materials for RFBs, metal free ORR catalysts, and supercapacitors.
