How to search for a vacancy

Online demonstration


To assist your search for a vacancy, you may wish to view our online search for a vacancy demonstration, which follows the steps set out below. Once you have opened this demonstration, please click the 'See It' button, located at the top of the screen to view it.

Step by step instructions


  1. Navigate to the College's job applicants page and click on the orange "Internal Job Search" button 

    or

    Open ICIS. If you are not an existing ICIS user then you should access
    ICIS Self Service. Then
  2. Log into ICIS using your College login and password
  3. Click on the My Opportunities responsibility – this will open up your My Opportunities homepage
  4. Search for jobs by using the quick links in the Search for Jobs box on the top right hand side of your homepage or click on the Jobs tab
  5. Search for a vacancy using any of the search criteria or enter the job vacancy reference number (if known) into the Keywords field then click on the "Search" button
  6. Click on a link in the vacancy reference column to view an advert
  7. To view or save the job description and person specification, click on the link in the "Job Description and Person Specification " section of the advert
  8. To view or save the application form click on the link in the "How to Apply" section of the advert

Online Demonstration


To assist you when applying for a vacancy, you may wish to view our online demonstration, which follows the steps set out below. Once you have opened this demonstration, please click the 'See It' button, located at the top of the screen to view it.

Step by step instructions


  1. Search for a vacancy
  2. Click on the "Apply Now" button at the top/bottom of the page - this opens up the first page of the online application form.
  3. The application form has been automatically populated with the personal details held about you on the ICIS HR system. If wish to change any of these details you need to do so via ICIS Self Service.
  4. If you wish to apply for the vacancy, you will need to complete the application pages (1-4), ensuring that you answer all the questions within the system and upload your application form via the “Add Document” button on page 2 of the job search system
  5. Once you have prepared and reviewed your application and are happy that all the requested information has been entered and documents completed, please select the “Submit” button

What happens next


  • You will receive further email updates from us, for example, to advise you if you are shortlisted or invited for interview. You will also be able to view these status notifications from the Notifications section of your My Opportunities homepage.
  • All of your details (with the exception of your application documents) will be automatically populated each time you apply for a vacancy.
  • You can also access your online account to amend your recruiting address. If you wish to change any of your personal details then you need to do so via ICIS Self Service.
  • In addition, you will be able to view the adverts, job descriptions/person specifications and other details for any vacancies you have applied for from the Jobs Applied For section of your My Opportunities homepage.

How to save your application

If at any stage you decide that you require more time to complete your downloaded application form and any other material requested in the advertisement then you can save your application by clicking on the Save for Later button at the top/bottom of the page.

  • Saved applications can be accessed from the Save for Later section on your My Opportunities homepage at any time up until the vacancy closing date has passed.
  • If you have saved any applications for later you will be sent a reminder 2-3 days before the vacancy closing date to remind you that, if you wish to apply for the vacancy, you need to do so before the closing date

 

How to delete


Delete application documents from 'Save for later'


If you decide you wish to delete or amend any of the documents you have uploaded as part of your application then you can do this at the Save for Later stage. Please note that you cannot delete or amend any of your application documents after you have submitted your application.

How to set up a job alert

To assist you when setting up a job alert, you may wish to view our online setting up a job alert demonstration, which follows the steps set out below. Once you have opened this demonstration, please click the 'See It' button, located at the top of the screen to view it.

Step by step instructions


  1. Navigate to the College's job applicants page and click on the red "Job Search for current Imperial College staff" button,

    or

    Open ICIS, then
  2. Log into ICIS using your network login and password. If you are not an existing ICIS user then you should access ICIS Self Service.
  3. Click on the My Opportunities responsibility – this will open up your My Opportunities homepage
  4. Click on the “Home” tab at the top right of the page
  5. Click on the “My Account” link on the top left of the page
  6. Click on the “Preferences” link at the top/bottom of the page.
  7. Under Preferences, filter your selection by keyword, job and employment category. For multiple selections, hold down the Ctrl key and click your selections. Your selection will help us to send you jobs that match your preferences.
  8. Under Email Preferences, tick the “Receive Emails” box and select the frequency and format of emails you wish to receive.
  9. Click on the “Save” button at the top/bottom of the page to start receiving Job Alert emails.
  10. You will receive a message confirming that your account has been updated successfully. The system will send you the first email the day after you have set up the Job Alert
