I joined the Graduate Management Training Scheme in Autumn 2013 having previously worked for private companies and social mobility charities. I undertook placements in Enterprise, the Business School, Campus Services, the Office of Financial Strategy and Imperial College Thinkspace.

I worked on a wide variety of projects including completing a market research and feasibility study for a new degree programme, writing Summer School webpages, and mapping Imperial’s corporate communications systems. I also supported the tender process for a gym provider for a new hall of residence, which gave me the opportunity to don a hard hat and inspect the multi-million pound building site.

I very much enjoyed the marketing and innovation aspects of my placements and left the scheme in 2015 to work in the Faculty of Medicine. I now lead the development of new undergraduate programmes for the Faculty, including a flagship new biomedical science course and intercalated degrees for medical students.

The connections across the College I made whilst on the scheme have been immensely helpful in my new role, and working in a wide variety of teams during my placements was a great preparation for my first management role.
