Dr Mary Hickson (Course Director)
Therapy Research Lead for Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Honorary Senior Lecturer, Imperial College London. Mary is a dietitian by profession but has been working as research lead for 7 years. She has published ‘The research skills handbook for healthcare professions’ and is experienced in mentoring and supervising people new to research. She teaches on the Imperial College MRes courses in Clinical Research Design and Management, Translational Medicine, Cellular Pathology and Human Nutrition, and runs this series of research skills workshops for the Trust’s staff .
Margaret is a research Speech and Language Therapist. She has a special interest in the evaluation and management of swallowing disorders and has developed her skills working both in the USA and UK. Margaret was awarded an NIHR Clinical Doctoral Fellowship in October 2009 and is currently working towards her PhD at Imperial College London. She currently teaches literature searching skills to the Trust staff.
Clinical Specialist in Hand Therapy for Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Honorary Research Associate Imperial College. Donna’s research studies include splinting in hand osteoarthritis, grip strength and hand function evaluation in patients with rheumatoid arthritis, the reliability of Semmes-Weinstein monofilaments in acute lower limb trauma and the outcome of management of carpal tunnel syndrome. She has presented her research at international conferences, published in the Journal of Hand Therapy and has taught on the selection of robust outcome measures at National conferences and as part of Masters degree programmes.
