Project Overview

Linear friction welding (LFW) attains the welding connection by frictional heat from linear mechanical reciprocating movement between the contacting faces of two work-pieces. Generally, the LFW joint provides excellent strength and fatigue performance. 

The main aim of the research is to carry out testing and modelling of fatigue crack growth rate and threshold value for assessing high-cycle fatigue property of linear friction welding joints. It involves testing of fatigue crack growth rate and fatigue crack threshold value, analysis of the influence of heterogeneous microstructure on the fatigue crack growth behaviour and detecting-technology of fatigue crack growth.
